We started off texting every day and now he blocked me. After playing Myrmidon you will either solidify your relationships for life or destroy them for ever. It was overall very fun though.
The whole game is definitely inspired from it takes two with its doll inspired protagonist. But the main difference (and where I think the game stands out) is because the other player plays the “animator”. the whole premise is that you play a a stop motion puppet and his animator. Both players have different POVs. The puppet really sees the world as someone would imagine it, things moving, character living etc. where the animator sees it from further and with a more “technical” approach.
While the puppet walks around trying to progress, he will be facing obstacle which the other player can help him overcome. Example, He may find a pit which he cannot cross, but on his side the animator has drawers which he can pull or push to create platform. Just like real modular backgrounds are done. I think this is what truly makes the magic of Myrmidon.
If you have ever looked at behind the scene, you definitely have seen how inventive some of these people can be. And this game portrays it so well.
The demo itself was just the right length and complexity imo. It was just long enough to understand and grasp the concept of the game without spoiling too much. It was also easy enough so it never took us more than 10m to pass one puzzle. Sadly some parts were rather janky which made us softlock ourselves a couple of times. The last time preventing us from finishing the demo. I’m rather confident that they will fix those issue before release.
If you liked It takes two and miss the Little big planet days please give this game a shot as it is clearly such a wonderful and well done homage.
