Crazy ? I was crazy once… Or maybe twice… Especially after playing the demo of Chaperon. It is a card based roguelike where you craft and choose the effect on your cards. There are a variety of buffs and debuffs you can put on them and I think it is the reason why I fell in love with the game.
it took me a small moment to realise i could put trinkets on cards, but when i did oh boy did the fun just started. I am usually rather unlucky in life and this game allows me to counter that lack of luck with my lack of brain cells. No more blaming the game because I didn’t get the right cards or that my build sucks. If I lost its because i didn’t choose my upgrades carefully enough.
the crafting aspect of this game wonderful, but what really sold me was that super polished and very cute art style. Every single visual aspect of this game is just so beautiful and well done. It literally makes you forget that it is only made by 2 people (WHICH IS CRAZY). Everything is hand drawn and every color is chosen with perfection. It really shows that a lot of efforts was put into it.
TLDR it looks so freaking good.
It is so rare to see Demos with this much attention to details. The UI is coherent with the game and doesn’t feel like text just floating on my screen, the sounds are carefully put together to create a superb ambiance and vibe. And on top of that the stage entrance animation looks so cool !
This is definitely one of the most polished Demo’s I have seen during my time doing DEMOmonday. It is also one of the rare one that I replayed on my own after showcasing it on stream. I have around 1h30 of play time and the devs said it should take around 3h to complete 100% of the demo. Who knows maybe I will finish it one day heh. All I know Is that I will be buying it the SECOND it comes out.
